Contact support

Email support@example.com. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, whether you use an Apple Watch, and what you expected to happen. We aim to reply within two business days.

Please don’t send backup files or health data unless we ask — we can’t open encrypted backups without your password, and you should never share the password.

Requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 18 or later
  • Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later (optional)
  • On-device coach: iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence for the on-device coach; a local fallback is used everywhere else

Getting started

Why does the app ask for Health access?

Health access lets RunSignal read live heart rate from Apple Watch during a run, read optional history for analysis, and save completed workouts to Apple Health. It’s optional: you can run without it, and missing signals are shown as unavailable rather than estimated.

When is location requested?

Only when you tap Start Run. Location is used to record your route, distance, and pace, and continues in the background during an active run so the Live Activity stays accurate.

How do I turn on historical Health analysis?

Open Profile → Settings → Analyze Health History. This is off by default. When enabled, the app analyzes your earlier workouts using samples already on your phone and adds zone, drift, and load metrics to them.

Apple Watch and heart rate

I don’t see live heart rate.

Check that the Watch app is installed (iPhone Watch app → Available Apps), that Health access includes Heart Rate on both devices, and that the Watch is unlocked and snug on your wrist. Heart rate appears in the phone app and Live Activity within a few seconds of the first Watch reading.

The Watch was out of range for a while.

That’s fine. The latest reading reappears when the devices reconnect, and the app will not create a duplicate run.

Live Activity

The Live Activity disappeared from my Lock Screen.

Confirm Live Activities are allowed in iOS Settings → RunSignal. If the app was force-quit mid-run, reopen it — the active run is recovered and the Live Activity is restored or safely ended.

Can I choose which metrics it shows?

Yes — custom Live Activity layouts (three chosen metrics, units, calories, and optional zone guidance) are part of Lifetime Pro. The default layout is available to everyone.

Backups and moving phones

How do I back up my runs?

Profile → Settings → Backup & Restore → Create Encrypted Backup. Choose a password of at least 10 characters and save the file to Files or iCloud Drive. The backup contains workouts, settings, raw samples, achievements, and local analytics.

How does restore work on a phone that already has runs?

Restore merges: runs that are missing on the device are added by ID, runs that already exist are left untouched, and your current device settings are preserved. On a fresh install, the backup’s settings are adopted.

I forgot my backup password.

The backup is encrypted with a key derived from your password and cannot be recovered without it — not by you, and not by us. Create a new backup from a device that still has your data.

Lifetime Pro

How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, then open Profile → Settings → Lifetime Pro → Restore Purchases. Family Sharing members can use the same path once sharing is enabled by the purchaser.

What does Pro unlock?

The Today coaching workspace (private daily coach, daily readiness, recovery-aware load guidance) and custom Live Activity layouts. Run recording, live zones, history, run details, range reports, race estimates, awards, and backups stay free.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple makes the decision and processes it.

Your data

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual runs from their detail screen, or delete the app to remove its local database and analytics files. Workouts already saved to Apple Health can be removed in the Health app. There is no server-side copy to delete, because RunSignal has no account or backend.

Does the coach send my data to an AI service?

No. The coach runs Apple’s on-device model where available and a deterministic local fallback elsewhere. Your workout and recovery inputs never leave the device. See the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting checklist

  1. Update to the latest iOS, watchOS, and RunSignal versions.
  2. Check Health and Location permissions in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Restart the Watch app and the iPhone app; then start a short test run.
  4. If storage recovery mode appears at launch, restart the app before recording — your database is not deleted.
  5. Still stuck? Email us with the details above.
